How to make Scandinavian shabby chic photo frame

With my North European origin I love Scandinavian style with its aesthetic approach to interior design and use of natural materials such as wood, stone or concrete and restricted natural or pastel color pallet. There are three main points in this style: minimalist, white and bright!
But I am also in love with France and shabby chic design associated with this country. It is not only design, it is more of a lifestyle- away from the mass production and consumption. Despite the name, there is nothing shabby about it. The focus lies in recycling and salvaging, in the blending of the old and the new. The natural colors such as white, beige, cream and ivory are tend to rule the interior. The recycled accessories are very important for a shabby chic feel.

I decided to refurbish this old mass production triple panel photo frame into a shabby chick with some slight Nordic interior element  accents. The frame already had nice signs of aging, I only needed to whitewash it to achieve shabby worn out feeling. The whitewashed pieces of birch bark are fixed randomly to create effect of the peeling off from the age. The old photos are from my personal collection.
